perhaps you recall the instance in the bible where samson made a wager with the philistines that they couldnt guess his riddle.
as it turned out they wheedled the answer out of him by his fiancee, but the point is that they had a wager.
since the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that we are not living in the last days of this system of things, and that this world is not facing anything remotely like the biblical apocalypse, at least not any time soon, in the spirit of such antagonism, i would like to propose a similar wager.

JW's believe in "new light" which basically means that, pending negative backlash or bad publicity, the answers to any rule or doctrine can change at any given time. If need be it can also change back to the original.

this is serious...i know many of you are serious computer intells...i am a comp user who knows how to set it up and run programs..that is about it.... i am looking to buy a new comp...soon...i have a 400 mhz, pentium ii...it locks up, gets fatal errors and simply will not do many things that newer comps can...it is 4 years old.
my question...what type of computer size is best?

Do not get a Mac! They are great for graphic design or some more specific tasks but overall you want a PC. I myself need to upgrade. I have a Compaq 4860, 333mghz, PII, 8 gig hard drive. SLOW these days. I contenially have to un-install software to make room for new stuff. I suggest a 40 gig hard drive, Dell or Gateway. AMD is a good chip but I have always liked Pentiums. Most systems come with CD burners these days and a graphics card would be nice to. I have found some great deals recently for around 800-900 bucks US. Shop around.

SEX? I have heard that a dub should only have sex with his/her spouse in the traditional manner. BORING...

I never said is was easy to be a JW. Maybe I should have titled my post "Come on in, welcome to the JW fold" (published by WT) or something like that. I am sure for the JW him/herself it was, and is, hell.
Alcohol My understanding is that it is OK to drink. I have lived with JW's for a short while and have seen this. They will tell you that it is not OK to get drunk or catch a buzz, but they are all trusted to be experts on this and to police themselves. How can anyone honestly know how much is too much, before you get to that point?
Christmas They do not celebrate Christmas anymore, but do have a January "gift exchange" every year. Maybe not all the JW's do this, but all the ones I know, DO.
Repentance
Repentance?? Yes the elders would tell you if they thought u were repentant or not....Thats scary, to depend on an elder to tell you if you were repentant. I think God may have a say in this....

Alcohol. Not a problem, use your own judgement on how much is too much.
Apparel Not a problem, dress nice but still look worldly with earings and makeup.
Doctrine Not a problem, with our new light policy our doctrine will eventually meet your needs.
Worship Not a problem, none needed, just knock on some doors and you will have the holy spirit.
Repentance Not a problem, the elders will tell you when to repent.
Study Not a problem, WT will tell you everything you need to know.
